Book Launch: The Semiotics of Architecture in Video Games (Bloomsbury Academic, 2022) – with Professor Gabriele Aroni & Professor Ferenc Hörcher
Video games are now the most popular medium on the planet, and billions of people inhabit virtual worlds daily.
At the book launch organized by Scruton Hub, the following topics will be discussed:
How is architecture represented in video games?
And what is their relationship to traditional art as well as modern culture?
Virtual worlds are extremely varied, and they can be both a representation of the real world and an interpretation of its possibilities. This book investigates the aesthetic aspects of the buildings, cities, and landscapes in which gamers play out their roles and how artists and game designers created them.
