The Dumbest Generation – Youth, Culture and the Decline of Knowledge
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Mark Bauerlein, Emeritus Professor of English at Emory University and Senior Editor at First Things, to the Scruton Salon for an evening of engaging discussion and critical reflection.
Dr. Bauerlein will deliver a 30-minute talk centered on the themes of his acclaimed book The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future and The Dumbest Generation Grows Up: From Stupefied Youth to Dangerous Adults – exploring how digital media and cultural shifts have impacted youth education and civic engagement in the United States. His talk will also address broader issues of cultural and educational policy during the Trump Administration, offering insights into the political and intellectual climate of recent years.
The lecture will be followed by a short Q&A session, beginning with a few moderator-led questions, and then opening the floor to audience participation.
Join us for an evening of thought-provoking conversation on the intersection of education, culture, and politics in contemporary USA!
