Our Story

Scruton Mammut

In November 2024, Scruton opened its newest café on the 2nd floor of Mammut II. The modern design creates a distinctive atmosphere within the bookstore, with an interior theme inspired by philosopher Sir Roger Scruton’s deep passion for horseback riding.

Sir Roger Scruton had a lifelong affection for horses. His family estate, Sundey Hill Farm, was home to many animals, but his bond with his own horse, Dumbo, held special significance. Horseback riding became a defining element of his life as many of his most meaningful friendships were born in the saddle. In tribute, we’ve gathered some of his personal belongings at Scruton Mammut.

The message behind the Scruton brand “café and more” carries much more than fine coffee and desserts. It represents real added value: a place where ideas are shared, books are read, and community is built. In this spacious setting, we aim to host thought-provoking talks and events, blending the joy of reading with culinary discovery, coffee, tea breaks, and moments of intellectual recharge.
