We build our community together: we read, converse, dream and debate. The source of our inspiration is the philosophical ethos our namesake, Sir Roger Scruton..

Our values stand on the pillars of local involvement, the respect of traditions, and the love of home.

Venues

Scruton was designed not only as a place for intellectual discussion, but also as a space where community building and the shared joy of dining can flourish.

We warmly welcome you to all of our seven venues:

Scruton Belváros

This community space features a unique contemporary interior design, making it an ideal setting for business discussions or intellectual gatherings.

Scruton V.P.

The Scruton atmosphere found its way into Veres Pálné utca. This is where Scruton V.P. was born, one of the favorites of the locals.

Scruton MCC

This community space is found near Feneketlen-tó, inside the building that was once the Flamenco Hotel.

SCRUTON PELSO

Scruton Pelso in Révfülöp offers the same spirit as its Budapest locations, complemented by the unmistakable Balaton vibe. A place where gastronomy and culture meet by the lake.

Scruton ALLEE

Our new community space is also inspired by the philosophy and legacy of Sir Roger Scruton, who throughout his life stood for the values of community, knowledge, and a strong sense of place.

Scruton Mammut

Scruton has opened a new café on the 2nd floor of Mammut II. The modern interior creates a unique atmosphere in the bookstore, with a design concept that reflects the philosopher’s passion for horseback riding.

Scruton szeged

In May 2025, Szeged gained a new highlight! Located right next to the National Theatre, Scruton Szeged opened its doors — a bistro representing the values of its Budapest and Balaton counterparts. It offers community experiences and value-based hospitality, closely connected to the local cultural scene.

Events at Scruton

Our events are exciting, diverse, and thought-provoking. In most cases, audience members have the opportunity to become active participants in the conversation, asking questions, sharing thoughts, and engaging directly with our well-known speakers.

Scruton events cover a wide range of topics, from public affairs and culture to the arts and gastronomy. Our gatherings are a great way to spark new friendships or professional relationships, as conversations often continue beyond the formal discussion. Sometimes over a glass of fine wine.

Scruton HUB

The Hun Scruton HUB (The Hungarian Scientific Hub of Scruton’s Heritage) is a research and creative community of Hungarian and international students, teachers, and lecturers. An intellectual workshop dedicated to maintaining and advancing the legacy and heritage of Sir Roger Scruton.

“Conservatism is more an instinct than an idea.” Our main goal is to preserve and represent the values that honor tradition, as envisioned by Sir Roger Scruton. We are committed to passing on conservative values and ideas to future generations in a friendly and open way, primarily through intellectual discussions and cultural events held in our community spaces.

The Scruton HUB aims to take an active part in international scientific dialogue, with one of our key missions being the creation of original intellectual content. Our activities focus on four main areas:
